We have had a rough few years, but I am trying to follow your approach of radical acceptance and love. God knows the world is difficult enough, home should at least be a safe space to land.

And yes, endless cycle of trying to make people happy (kids/parents). With 3 kids, I finally had to accept it can be rare for all 3 to be happy at the same time.
