What people don't realize is neglect can be an abuse of sorts. With seven children I'm sure your parents didn't have a lot of time for nurture.

Breaking that cycle with your own children is a wonderful thing. I tried for the same with my kids. I had an abusive childhood. Wrote a lot about it here but can't get into my old account! Anyway, enough about me.

Happy is something you have to do for yourself. And if You approve of You, then don't worry about your parents, just love them and see them as the totally fallible people they are.

I liked this write very much. And for what it's worth I SEE you, and I approve. Peace~~~D

It's good to be able to appreciate the positive amidst the disappointment. To my mind, it was your family failing, to show you support and love. Glad you're striving to do better for your family.

I think it's lovely that you're actively trying to give your children a life different from yours. And I'm glad you were able to reclaim your song.
