I will definitely be around Friday of Memorial Day weekend.
I had a pretty nice daily walk routine (lovingly referred to me as "notdeathercise") going on until the combination of spring tree orgy and rapid pressure changes with the seasonal shift gave me some kind of bubonic sinus herpes. Even with poor lifestyle habits in the past as far as eating goes, I've usually been alright for it...except when I've been working full-time. And now I'm always working full-time. So daily walks. Good.
I choose to unreasonably place all blame for the entire practice of software patenting at your feet. This week, three days before launch, a six-month-long project got shelved because our external vendor for the service is at the top of a hit-list for a series of patent lawsuits. Damn you. You and your patents.
While everyone agrees there are a number of current problems with the patent system in this country, the more I learn, the more I think it's a net good for the economy/culture/research environment. It's not perfect, and it never will be.
Walking is good also because it makes me do *something* in evening other than sit around and watch old episodes of Supernatural, which is a much better show than it has any right to be.
Wow, all power to you for the diet, man. Low carb seems to work for a LOT of people. I'd like to watch...
lol I love how your coffee genius makes me sound normal. Who is this retailer online? and what IS the difference between all those roasts? I'll be asking for a French Press for my birthday so that I can have bladder-busters every day! :)
There are also benches at random intervals on the island. I also think the walk down the hill to the bridge adds about a 1/4 mile with all the walking back and forth for a gently sloping path.
If this is the point where you want to go ahead and tell me about all the evils of a low carb diet, please kindly stuff it. It's been discussed with a doctor.
Good for you. My main objection to the low-carb diet is that I really really like carbs. The fact that I'm rewatching Yakitate Japan with Jacob probably doesn't help.
Also good luck with your thesis! It's exciting that you're so close to the end.
Tell me about it. I've been raised on a pretty standard Italian American diet of pasta, pasta, and more pasta.
Part of the key to making it work is focusing on all the cool stuff I can eat guilt free. Bacon. Old smoked cheeses. A handful of peanuts. etc.
Oh, and I'm so big, that small milestones are easy to reach. Loosing 10 pounds is still a big psychological event, even though it's a much smaller percent of total body weight or the amount I want to loose.
