Should I stay or should I Go?

I am at a crossroads in my life. My choices are relativelvely simple. Stay here and rot in the worst economy in the country or take a chance on moving out west where I only know two people and will be thousands of miles away from family if there is a problem. How feasible would it be to move out west, get a good job, and send some of the money to your family as a way to help them out?

It would be feasible, but I still feel like there would be resentment if I did.
