This sucks! I'm out of books! I don't think this has ever happened before. I'm still waiting to get Farenheit 451, which I ordered used from Half.com (I'm embarassed to say I haven't read it yet!)... but all our package mail gets sent to L's parents place since we have a serial mail theif in our building... and we won't be up there until Sunday ( Read more... )

I read Farenheit 451 in 1984 :P. Ha ha! Showing my age :). Speaking of my age, I'm gonna be 34 in 6 days :/. I wouldn't care, but where's Mrs. Bogle!? Anyway, I honestly haven't read too many books in my life, but one of the millions that I read most of but never finished is one I'm picking back up. It's a different sort of read and you very well might hate it. It's called, "Breakout." A non-ficitonal account of the Chosin Reservoir campaign during the Korean War. 30,000 American marines were surrounded by 300,000 Chinese. It's a large book and full of names and interviews and whatnot. It can be a bit much to follow at times, but for me it's such a good read on humanity in dire straits.

It seems to be a big birthday month for most of the people I know. Happy early birthday! And thanks for the book recommendation... I will seriously read just about anything I can get my hands on (save for Danielle Steele novels and the like), so if I can find that at the library, I may very well check it out. I could use some more history info anyway. :)

Way to buy the book online that I had bought for you for latelatebirthday/christmas. :)

Have you read slapstick yet? Did we discuss it?

I think you should try on the road - not because it's great, but because it is supposed to be. It's in the same vain as catcher in the rye but without the enchanting characters.

Ooops. Well, at least you know now so you have time to return it! I have read Slapstick, in fact I still have your copy. And I have also read On the Road.
