Yes, I've noticed LJ traffic declining; and, indeed, I am as much to blame in posting less and merely responding to comments.
I fear that some or all the people I knew on LJ are bocoming middle-aged and suburbanised: less to say, and less willing to venture outside a static circle of acquaintances.
Also: all social invitations now go up on Facebook. However, I am very careful to use FB as nothing more than a respe table 'front garden'. Employers and clients always look up candidates, so the public parts of your profile need to be squeaky-clean and mundane.
I still use LJ -it allows you get more in depth with things than FB which for some reason seems to stimulate a more superficial contact with people (you thought all those memes about what manga character you are, etc of five years ago were bad, how about the hundreds of posts every day about how you're doing on Farmville or Mafia Wars and the whole thing on applications, privacy,e etc).
There are fewer people posting their every thought here but there still are a lot of people using it. And, seemingly, a fair few people coming back.
i love recording stuff on here for myself, independently as to whether people read it or not. Personally, I like reading what prople write and I find it quite sad that some people have abandoned LJ in favour of the snappy, sensationalist punchlines that fb offers.
