Individual paths vs fear

I once had a dream in which I was trying to escape a crumbling house.
The building was falling apart around me, and I was crawling on my belly along the floor, trying to find a safe passage outside. While doing so, I had my two cats clutched to my chest, and a pet snake wrapped around my neck. I was desperately trying to wrangle the lot of them ( Read more... )

I think it's good that important messages hit us hard. It tells us that this is meaningful to us, that something within us is responding in a way that indicates that we should give it some analysis and consideration.

I remember a line from a song:

"When you feel a pain, you're just about to grow.
Don't resist what you feel
I'm sure that you know."

Hear hear. I'm totally with you on this. One thing that complicates the matter is that, if you're conscious of this viewpoint from the outset, it sometimes makes it difficult to forge ties with people in the first place. Living without expectation eliminates disappointment, but it can also diminish our drive to capture our desires. Well...perhaps I should speak for myself here. But I guess the ideal would be to strike a divine balance between the two; to be ever guided by desire while foreswearing fetters. Quite a bit easier said than done. :)
