So after another round of fundraising packets got sent home, in which we found out that ADD has it's own magazine , I just went up to school and asked what they were hoping to raise per child. I don't believe it is so easy as raising property taxes. They are estimating a $4 million shortfall for the coming year. So of course, the Lawrence Board of Education wants to close schools, increase student-teacher ratios, and cut more "unnecessary" services like after-school programs (Sir Dynamo's was cut this year)... argh! Raising local taxes would help some... but I honestly think funding at the federal level needs to be tweaked in a major way.
