MAN ANOTHER POINT AND CLICK COLLAB POST.
So
sfemonster made a
map post fishbulb33 made a
map post so I was all "OH CRAP I SHOULD MAKE A MAP POST".
I didn't make an entrance drawing because I already kinda did in
this post. The entrance to the world (STILL UNNAMED, THIS IS HARD) is pretty nondescript. You first enter through the ocean in Rue Scribe (Sfé's world) and you leave through the bathtub in The Collector's Cabin. You come up through a trapdoor in the middle of the floor in an overgrown part of the Labyrinth.
The Ocean: Not really in the map. It is the beginning of this level and attached to Rue Scribe. Ssam uses the Drink Me bottle he finds at the Tea Party in Rue Scribe to escape the pirates at the end of that level. The bottle works the same as Nixie Essence in Skin Deep, turning Ssam into a fishy octopus monster
as seen here. He has to put together a Plesiosaur skeleton from pieces found in other lands and the ocean. If Ssam missed any of the skeleton bits from the other levels, Lorna will take him to the docks of Rue Scribe so he can get back to the Labyrinth and to the other worlds.
The River Docks: Once the Plesiosaur Skeleton is assembled it comes to life and takes Ssam to the River Valley. The Plesiosaur will stay there for the rest of the level, silently smiling at Ssam and watching him when he's around the Docks. When Ssam first gets to the River Valley he can only take two paths, one to the Collector's Cabin and one to the Bacchanalia. The other paths are obstructed by fallen trees, large rocks, or vine tangles.
The Bacchanalia: This is a new area that I made up while I was making this map. It's based on
the ring of cut tree stumps that's above the real Fiddler's Cave in the real forest in the real river valley where I grew up. There's a big gaggle of rambunctious stags, satyrs, and other half-human dudes having a bonfire and drinking heavily. When Ssam enters the Bacchanalia they, like the Satyr Twin Statues in the Labyrinth, bombard him with a variety of word puzzles, riddles, and jokes. They don't really give him any time to answer before asking the next one, though. The Bacchanalia breaks up when Ssam is with Jimmy and Lorne, as they try to behave themselves around the kids.
The Collector's Cabin: Where the Collector lives with his dog Hyde and his raven Jeckyl. When you first come up to the cabin it is shut tight and the Collector refuses to let you in. If Ssam explores the area around the Cabin he'll find a big stack of doors leaning up against it. One of the doors leads to the Avalon Store where I haven't decided what happens there yet. The Avalon Store is revealed later to be a room in the Sphinx Mansion. Ssam can't really go anywhere besides the Bacchanalia or the Cabin, but if he keeps bugging the Collector to let him in the house the Collector will get pissed off and open the door and maul Ssam. After meeting Jimmy and Lorne, they will not go near the Cabin, but the Collector will now tell you that he'll let you in the Cabin if you bring him something special.
Jimmy and Lorne's Hideout: After Ssam gets mauled he passes out and wakes up at Jimmy and Lorne's Hideout, where Jimmy and Lorne are poking him with sticks and throwing stuff at him in curiosity. After he wakes up Jimmy and Lorne rejoice over their amazing ability to revive Ssam. After that the two morons follow Ssam around constantly, helping him out with obstacles. The green blobs are obstacles that only Jimmy can remove, like vines or trees, and the brown blobs are obstacles that Lorne can move, like boulders and rocks and other heavy stuff. After Jimmy and Lorne team up with Ssam, he can revisit the Hideout whenever he wishes, he opens a shortcut to the Bacchanalia (the path going past the Boathouse curves up the hill to the party), and enter the Momo's Cave.
Momo's Cave/Fiddler's Cave: Once Lorne removes the boulder in front of the Momo's Cave they get spooked by the sleeping Momo and run off. If Ssam tries to sneak by the Momo, the Momo will wake up and eat him. The Momo can only be placated by a jar of peanut butter, and I haven't decided where Ssam gets that peanut butter yet (maybe he buys it from the Avalon Shop?). After you enter the cave, you always hear a fiddle music wafting in and out in different parts of the cave. Further back you'll find a giant mansion.
The Sphinx's Mansion: The Sphinx Mansion is a glorious Queen Anne's period mansion that, for reasons unexplained, is shoved into the back of a giant cave. When Ssam enters he's warmly greeted by the Sphinx herself, a mysterious and eerily nice creature that treats Ssam with every kindness known. There's something kind of off about her that Ssam can't put his finger on, and he finds out that he can't leave and he can't go into any of the rooms after he is invited inside. The only way he can explore the mansion is if he agrees to become the Sphinx's child. The problem with that is once he becomes the Sphinx's Child he loses all memory of himself and believes 100% that he belongs in the Mansion and always has lived in the Mansion (aka Game Over). However if he takes some sorta special something (not sure what yet, still working on it), he protects his brain from being taken from him by the Sphinx, and is able to traverse the Mansion freely. He finds the piece of the portal that he needs to go home in one of these rooms, as well as a large amount of money, an item that will turn him back human, and a key that unlocks the door to the Avalon Shop. He can use the money to purchase a faux plesiosaur skull from the Camerasaurus shopkeep. He can exit the Mansion through the Collector's Door in the Avalon Shop, although he can't go through that door unless he's human ("I don't want to go outside looking like this!" he will say).
Back to the Collector's Cabin: Back at the Cabin, you try to give the Collector the faux Plesiosaur Skull in an attempt to get into the cabin. He finds this utterly unacceptable and will accept nothing more than the real thing and reveals that he will only let you in if you bring him the skull of the real plesiosaur.
Back to the River Docks: Ssam goes back to the River Docks and to the Plesiosaur Skeleton, and you lure the skeleton over to you with some item (found at the Avalon Shop or the Mansion?) where you steal his skull and replace it with the faux skull. This FREAKS HIM THE HELL OUT and the river starts to flood, turning the idyllic spring/summer setting into a darker, creepier fall-like feeling as the water rises.
The gray shows where the water floods.
After the river floods and everything looks like it's dying, Ssam can only take one path back to the Collector's Cabin, past Jimmy and Lorne's Hideout. Here Ssam sees the extent of his damage to the valley, where Jimmy and Lorne's tree is dying and Jimmy and Lorne themselves are huddled up in the tree, afraid to go down and touch the water. As Ssam passes by they shout to him, asking what's going on and why is the water eating their home.
Back to the Cabin: Finally Ssam can enter the Collector's Cabin by giving the Collector the real plesiosaur skull, and once inside Ssam sees that it is a giant cabin full to the brim with collected crap. If anybody wants Ssam to find some items for their worlds in this cabin, that would be great! In the back is a bathtub with continuously running water and if Ssam drinks out of his Drink Me bottle he can swim to the very bottom of the tub to a trap door that leads back to the Labyrinth. If Ssam finds the Labyrinth door before getting into the Kory Land he will come up inside the Collector's Cabin, and the Collector will be completely irate and eat you if he finds you in there.
I haven't decided if I want to make Ssam to put the floodwaters back and help Jimmy and Lorne out before Ssam leaves, or to just leave the world is relative shambles.
BUT THAT'S WHAT I GOT SO FAR
