Kim Dickens should be embarrassed by her performance in 'Fear the Walking Dead'

Good Lord, she was terrible! She was Ed-Norton-in-The-Incredible-Hulk bad. Kim Dickens was OK in Gone Girl and House of Cards but she was laughably incompetent at expressing basic emotions in Fear the Walking Dead. I was going to write about that as part of my recaps of The Walking Dead that I’m starting this season but I was so annoyed by that “ ( Read more... )

Funny I should find this... I remember I stopped watching FTWD because of Kim Dickens' atrocious and totally unbelievable performance. It ruined the entire show for me and I couldnt believe she was cast as a main character (there must be a million other actresses that could play this part convincingly) I just quit watching and wrote it off to the part being a bad fit for her ( ... )

I'm a fan of TWD. I planned to watch FTWD to see how this zombie apocalypse all began. I couldn't handle Kim Dickens' worse than terrible "acting". I don't think she can act her way out of a paper bag. I HAD NO CHOICE but to stop watching the show after the first three episodes mainly because of her. I thought maybe Kim just needed to warm up. Maybe someone would give her direction. Maybe...nope. Never changed at all. Recently, my daughter wanted me to watch it with her. I said no, can't deal with it. Now she's binge watching and talked me into starting again a little over half way of season 2. She promised it gets better and to give it a chance. I gave it a chance...again. As soon as I laid eyes on Kim, I rolled my eyes. Oh no, what have I done? But I will say I've seen much less of Kim so it's at least watchable now. I'm willing to try it again.

She played a small role in The House of Sand and Fog. She played a volunteer lawyer who came across as not giving a sheet, which I thought was odd. Why volunteer if you don’t give a sheet? It turns out she was just acting to the best of her abilities.

Man oh man!! We binge watched seasons 1-9 of TWD and LOVED IT so much, and while we're waiting for season 10 to hit netflix we started watching FTWD. First episode was a little slow but we're like "it's okay, they're just laying the foundation...it'll get better.". Well here we are a couple episodes into season 3 now and we're still waiting for it to get better. Every single episode we comment on how bland Kim Dickens' performance is. How uninteresting. How boring. How lackluster. There's ZERO sense of urgency when she's in a dangerous situation. She's emotionless. And the same look on her face all the time is like "hey, do you understand what's going on in this scene?". It's like she's never even heard of "The Walking Dead" and has no idea what's going on. She's the absolute worst character on the show, although the Travis character isn't even that good either. Additionally, tweaker Nick is a bit of a snoozer too. Strand was the only character that was interesting. At this point we feel like Alicia is the only actress ( ... )

Its more then that also. Walking dead based off of the comic books really has a sence of scale to its universe and diversity that you don't get in fear the walking dead with locations, cicrumstantial situations that the crew run into and even the outcome and change of many characters being broken by this world. There are many comic book archtype characters with interesting roles and distinct personalities as are the villians that really remind you that this is not just a modern reality type of show like FTWD is kind of portrayed as. This is a show existing in a comic book with villiany like characters, create set piece moments and wars, conflicts awesome fight cheorgraphy. FTWD doesn't even come close to walking dead and its really a sorry excuse for a spin off and what makes this even worse is the terrible acting with the main cast. Aside from Alicia and newly introduced Al are really the only reasons I continue this borefest. Currently have 2 more seasons left but damn its been hard to trudge through them.

Thank you so much for writing this. I was so pissed that I had to google it. What a poor acting skills this lady has. I am big fan of the main universe, The walking dead. I watched it twice, Rick, Daryl, Michonne, Glenn, Maggie, Negan, Lydia, Everyone had marvelous performances. But this lady Madison portrayed by Kim, have just one expression on her face, it is pissing me of a big time. I wonder why director or showrunner did not tell her to show some expressions man. She literally killed the character because of her monotonous expression and poor acting.
