Cars hate me / The Dalai Lama

So, Friday morning I worked the last overnight shift from 1am-7am, which was fairly hard because I have not been getting enough sleep for...well, for a really long time. When I got home at 7:20ish, I went straight to bed, but only ended up being able to sleep till noon because people were talking right outside my room. It was quite frustrating ( Read more... )

$400 sounds like a LOT for an alternator. I'm sorry you had to deal with that. But the rest sounds like amazing an amazing experience.

Also, I probably shouldn't be in charge of my own wedding because I am constantly losing track of things/forgetting to do things/putting things off til the last minute. I think the last thing I asked you was whether you could design us a program - HOWEVER, I seem to have lost the paper that had the order of everything on it, so we're probably just going to throw the program together. Sorry to keep changing it up on you! I'm just not very good at planning large events, apparently. So we won't be needing your services, but I very much appreciate the offer to help!

Yeah, $400 DOES sound like a lot for an alternator...Nate thought so too, but we trust the mechanic who we brought the car too because he's friends with my Dad (it still sounds overpriced though)

And...if you figure that stuff out, I actually have quite a bit of free time this week and wouldn't mind helping you out. If it'll help, i'm here for ya! :)

As someone who has had to buy two alternators for two different cars, $400 for an alternator doesn't sound outrageous. I think I paid $300 or $350 for the one on my first car, and the Focus I have now it was more like $450 because it's a special alternator because I have the souped up engine on my Focus. If I had to guess, the difference in the price is for the labor, as opposed to the part.

What's the status of your warranty? Bumper to bumper? Powertrain? I'm also curious if it matters that you had the work done at a third party versus the dealership, they usually like you to do it at the dealership.

I actually drive a ford focus as well!

well the work i had done at the 3rd party mechanic place obviously won't be covered by ford...the only reason I went there is 'cause they were opened on the weekend and me thinking it was just the alternator I thought I would be able to get it back right away (and initially they told me it'd be done by 2pm on saturday...till they discovered it was a MUCH larger problem)

I have a limited time powertrain warranty...but i'm not quite sure what all is covered by that, especially seeing as it is a pre-owned vehicle. I was just going to call the dealership tomorrow and have them send me the detailed info (unless you know?)
