Looks like I needed to vent
I'm feeling extremely restless these days. I start fall classes in a week and begin my teacher assisting/student teaching adventure shortly after that. I am fairly apprehensive of my classes, though. it feels weird to not be working
A long time ago I thought I'd set up an Etsy shop since I'm constantly making things out of other things. Then I realized that my craftsmanship sucks, so I'm not going to do that anymore. Plus I wasn't expecting to have an instant job offer after my AmeriCorps term ended. Two, sort of. And I want to go back to school. I hope I haven't committed to ( Read more... ) -
short week
We left for our little Ludington vacation Sunday afternoon and I quickly got over my guilt about missing work. We spent all day at the state park Monday, hiking the trails and picnicking in the woods. It was awesome. first anniversary
Yesterday was our first wedding anniversary, and the last year has flown. I think that has more to do with working the same hours, for the first time ever, day after day and week after week than being married, but it still felt like the fastest year I've yet experienced. exhausted
I biked downtown at noon today to check out the "sidewalk chalk flood," which I thought was really fun and it was very relaxing to walk around by myself, occasionally stopping to draw things on the sidewalks. The ride back was extremely difficult due to my being out of shape and because of the powerful wind coming straight at me out of the west. I ( Read more... ) -

I just had a short conversation with a coworker that got me thinking. He asked me when my term ends (July 28) and asked me what I'm going to do when it's finished; I replied that I wasn't sure yet. Then he asked me if I was thinking about applying to any jobs internally, and I said I wasn't and that "I'm not sure what I want to be when I grow up." ( Read more... ) -
UICM & staying up later than I should
I went to a worship service this afternoon at the warehouse and it was beyond refreshing. Volunteers and anyone else involved with the ministry in our neighborhood were invited, and it was packed. Composting?
This is a long shot, but does anyone know anything about composting with very little space and no yard? We have a long, narrow balcony to work with and that's about it. I have some old potting soil that I want to reuse but I'm afraid most of the minerals in it have been used up - so I want to compost with it. I looked into vermicomposting ( ( Read more... )
