she done me good

I found myself reading the latest issue of rolling stone this morning. I anxiously awaited reading the charts, where the Beatles 'Let it be...naked' sits proudly at number 5. I sip fruit juice and attempt to recall a quote I had taped to my wall some 18 months ago. It goes a little something like this ( Read more... )

But the crazy thing is...Thursday ain't half bad. It's the masses and masses of Thursday clones that annoy me. We both know that Thursday wasn't the first band to make music of their genre, they were just lucky enough to break into the mainstream music scene before everyone else. Every 'scene' has it's hero, and from that hero, come the minions! 'Heros' and epic fairy tales sell. From the beatles to the bible, in the end somebody's making a profit off of something we hold to be so sacred.

This is true.

It's almost like Slipknot. Their first cd (excluding the rapping) wasn't too shabby at all. It was pissed and angry. Their only downfall was the horde of idiots known as their fanbase.

Maybe some people really do like certain types of music for the music-not the popularity

but once that music reaches the point of repetative mediocrity, once the music looses substance all together, once the music is made for any other reason other than out of love for the trade itself...is it really worth spending $18.99 on? I don't want to come off as mean, but I think you missed my point. That's easy to do, though. I tend to ramble, and leave out information that supports my rant.

That's true. I've noticed that she's slowly dying away from the media. She's still there, just not as much as before. Which is a good thing ( ... )

Am I crazy for thinking the Beatles are just a bit overrated, musically speaking?

You're not crazy...but when I listen to an album like abbey road and compare it to mainstream music today( taking back sunday, all american rejects, story of the year...so on and so forth) there's just no fucking comparison.

Overrated? Yes. But is their music genius? Yes. When you're considered maybe the greatest band of all time--or in my opinion THE greatest--then of course you are overrated to some extent. Aren't you always a little let down when something is hyped up to be way better than it is? I could make ketchup sound like the condiment of the century, but then you'd realize it's got nothing on hot sauce. I guess my point of this comment is... ketchup will always be second best to some other condiment except on on corn dogs.
