 I went to Akiba (Akiba Hebrew Academy) for 4 years: grades 7-10, so all of what was considered for me to be middle school and then the first half of high school.  I won't go into the ordeals of the past, but just recently the school was renamed and is moving to a new site.  Both fabulous things.  I'm glad to see the place expanding out of an ( Read more... )

I needed a good laugh.  Woohoo :)

This weekend was special.  Very special.  I went off to Killington, Vermont, to see Madeleine at the Killington Music Festival.  The setting is pretty, and it's a lovely place.
Seeing Madeleine was wonderful, as we hadn't more than 30 minutes together in about 2 years.  It's rather blowing my mind how fast the past two years have gone by.

Dug out old journals today, and came across this statement I wrote about 10 years ago:

"[Persecution] is human nature.  In fact, learning to handle it builds character."

So now I'm wondering.  Just how f*cked up a statement is that?

A week or two ago, I ordered new strings for my violin and I was really impressed with how my violin sounded.  Between just generally feeling a desire to do so, plus the new strings as an additional incentive more recently, I've taken to playing violin a bit more recently than I have been in a long time.  As in, most days actually.
