The opposite of what I thought would happen did - I found Obama's answers boring and usually let me my mind wander inadvertently while he was talking. John McCain was able to keep my attention and I thought he was a good public speaker and was surprised. He came off as speaking from the heart, whereas Obama seemed like he was talking to the middle class people from a high podium. I'm a Democrat, so that was especially different for me to feel from a debate.
I was very very surprised that they said Obama won.
I thought about the same thing. Obama seemed pretty ill at ease, while McCain was very confident. It made a huge difference in carrying their respective messages. I didn't catch any analysis afterward (I could only stomach a few minutes of the debate itself), so I didn't hear anybody say Obama "won". But I would've said this probably hurt him in the public eye.
Bruco happened to turn this on online (no tv), in the middle of one of McCain's responses. I had my back to the screen and the whole time McCain was talking, I thought it was Bush.
I didn't watch enough to have an opinion on the debate over all, but it doesn't matter, it couldn't possibly have changed my vote.
Nor mine, since I'm not voting for either of the bastards. But I kind of enjoy breaking this stuff down and seeing what's inside and how it will affect things. Watching what the little bit I did, I thought McCain would gain a good number of votes from that performance.
