We ARE witnessing history. I mean, as trite and cliche and FUCKING HOKEY as it is to say it, it is history. Obama IS the first black candidate for president, and he's a damn good candidate. I mean, sure, Jesse Jackson has made efforts in the past, but no one took him seriously because, well, he's kinda dumb and also sort of just as prejudiced as any racist white folk you may come across. Obama is the first one to appeal to the masses and even if he doesn't win, I'm proud that I voted for him.
Also, maybe this will help with discussing race in this country.
We need to reach a happy medium between thinking "white is always right" and being afraid to say anything derogatory about any black person, ever. Racism is not cool, ever, but there has to be a point where we start seeing people for who they are and not just for their race. All that's been accomplished in the last 40 years is divisiveness, basically. Or maybe I've just been in the South too long.
I was just catching up on previous LJ posts and I AGREEEEEEE! Sarah Palin scares the SHIT OUT OF MEEEE! I tell people that ALL the time, everyone I work with knows I will voting Barack all the way!
All the idiots in prattville have McCain/Palin signs EVERYWHERE!! I just want to fucking burn them or turn them upside down. It gives me the hibbity gibbities just to look at their names. I don't think I have EVER felt rage towards a presidential candidate before before but I just want to stab McCain & Palin in the eyeballs.
