Well, I graduated this past Saturday. While I'm excited, there are other classes I'm interested in taking. Guess I'll have to audit those as an alumna. Still want/need "Information Literacy" and "Web Design". I'm not taking any classes this summer, though. I need to concentrate on securing gainful employment ;)

I found out today that one of my fellow LIS students passed away yesterday of metastic melanoma. I had classes with this girl. She was sweet, smart, considerate of others, and generally rocked. Now she is gone, and I just can't come to terms with it. She was ONLY 30 years old and had a husband and beautiful little boy.  I cannot express in words ( Read more... )

So the "word" is that apparently SciFi channel did not renew (or cancelled) "Flash Gordon". I'm so pissed. It was the ONLY show in the past year that I actually enjoyed and looked forward to watching. The writing was strong, I thought, and a lot of the writers for the show were women. F-ing figures.

Some of the Native American tribes used to "count coup" against their enemies, an action where one rides up (or otherwise approaches) one's enemy and taps them on the forehead before retreating back. A warrior's braveness, in part, could be proven by how many times he had counted coup against his enemy, that is, before lopping his enemy's head off.

Well, like a phoenix from the ashes, I have survived my Comprehensive Exams. Two days of tortuous hell that tests more for basic memory recall than for actual aptitude, in my opinion. I think I passed, though. HOPE I did. It would be damned embarrassing if I didn't, that's for sure. It would mean I need to stock up on ginko-biloba :)

Daisy had to see the vet today for her annual checkup and TWO shots: rabies & feline distemper. Poor thing. She was really great though. I think it's amusing how our Vet plays favorites with our cats. She LOVES Daisy and HATES Joy. Poor Joy - she's so misunderstood!!
