You ever get the feeling that the old saying "No good deed goes unpunished" is more a law of nature than an old adage? Maybe my resolution should have been to stop being nice. hmmmm...I suppose that would fall under 'reduce'.

Like I needed anymore reasons to hate Wal-Mart, but I just saw a Wal-Mart Christmas commercial. Are they serious?? It is Halloween! You couldn't wait one more day? Are you that desperate? I am really thinking about banning from my shopping any company or product that runs a Christmas ad until November 15th.

I received my teaching assignment today. On Thursdays I will be leading a discussion group of 25 students in an intro to Women's Studies class. Monkey Socks!!! I really have to do this now...the things I get myself into never ceases to amaze me.

Queen's "We Are The Champion/We Will Rock You" has been a long time anthem for "manly" sports such as football and even hockey. There is a new trend in commercials to use Queen music as a background for "MAN" products. So the message we are being sent is that Queen music embodies all that is manly. Am I the only one who finds that ironic?

The other grad students in WS and I decided that we needed to start a WS grad student association and today we had our first brainstorming meeting which was very productive. Brittney Spears is a mess. This comes as no surprise to anyone who is not Amish. Sunday just confirmed that for us all it all its black sparkly bikininess, but I am not OK with anyone calling her fat or out of shape. I started my grad work last week, it is such an amazing difference from being an undergrad. I knew it would be different I just did not realize how much. You are actually treated like an adult with a brain.
