I know what you mean about he 'just get rid of it' mentality... my sister begged to have the family (mine, got him while I lived at home, but she still argues the point) dog and then, when he started acting up a bit from being tormented by the puppy that was 3 times his size and weight (and he was 9 at the time) she said he had brain cancer and was going to put him down... I said no freaking way, give him back... he has since found a new home, which makes me sad and I miss him, but when my grandmother passed (he lived with her across the hall from us until her stroke and then he lived with us until about a montha after she passed a year after the stroke) he went bonkers... I know he was grieving, he did love her best after all... but he was tearing up the carpet to the point where he was cutting himself on carpet tacks... I could care less about poop on the floor, it was all the blood that worried me... so, we dealt with it until I found him a new, safe, home that didn't remind him of Nana... and he's been great ever since... miss him
