Be carefull what you ask for

So I actually went to meet this guy, Roger, who found me on yahoo personals, which I don't even use anymore. He is a native Hawaiian, and he is a millionare. He straight up asked me to be his woman, or something. Yes, to be a kept woman, for the next year of my life. I've ofton toyed with this notion, and joked around with people about it, and ( Read more... )

I can honestly say that I think this is a bad idea. You don't know anything about this guy, all you have presumed is that he is a millionaire. I can't really form much more of an opinion because I don't know any details. Do you? Like what does "being his woman" entail? Crazy butt sex? Sex with Animals? letting him pee on you? Licking his ass?
Making steak for him while he's wearing a diaper?
Seriously, these are things you need to consider.
That is all the opinion I have until I know more.
As far as what you may feel about yourself - I tend to think that you may not respect yourself, but you've always amazed me with your resiliency when it comes to stuff like this. You and I have very different views on independence and self-sufficiency. We should talk on the phone.

I could be totally mistaken, but I thought part of the purpose of you moving to Hawaii was to do your own thing. I'm not sure how you can call yourself learning to do your own thing if you are just vascillating between various forms of dependency.

You know what I mean?

I'll try calling you back soon, when I get back to Madison.

And yes, I reallze it's absurd for me to give anyone advice on relationships or anything. I'm just saying.

i thihnk it would only be an okay thing if you honestly really liked him. which i doubt you can know right now, and the ew-factor of someone who would find you on the internets and make such a proposition right off the bat also not so appealing.

like amber said, i find it hard to respect myself when im not taking care of myself, financially and otherwise. you are a capable person, and i think you could do better for yourself. but i guess it depends on your priorities.

I wouldn't do it myself, but I really think the choice is yours. Do you know what he wants in exchange for being "kept"? Is he being upfront with you about what will be expected of you? Do you trust him? Will you be able to respect yourself if you sell yourself off to him? There's nothing necessarily wrong with it, it's just a personal choice as to whether you're the sort of person that can handle it. I couldn't. I'm uncomfortable with taking others' money unless I earn it. While you would essentially be earning the money, you have to ask yourself if that is how you'd like to earn money. I think a lot of people who do this sort of thing get into it and lose a great deal of self esteem because they begin to think that they are only worth that and nothing more. It's just not a good place to put yourself if you think you might be prone to that way of thinking. So, it really is a choice that you'll have to make since no one knows you better than you. Also, I'm sure it will become like a job and you'll come to resent the ( ... )
