I'm okay. We haven't had power, and I don't know why we do now. I'll update more fully later (don't know when, I don't know how long the power'll last). I personally didn't get much damage.
Thank you. I have earthquake bags at the door now, for the first time (blankets, food, medicine, water, etc) so when the huge aftershock hits and we have to evacuate, I don't have to comb the apartment trying to collect materials, like Friday.
That's great! It was so surreal to hear that it had happened. I had just read your post: "As I keep saying, what scares me about shindo 3-4 earthquakes isn't the earthquake itself, but the fear that it's going to be "the big one", i.e. the Miyagi-oki earthquake that happens on average every 35 years and last happened 42 years ago." Then I went to bed, and when I woke up I heard that there had been a huge earthquake near Sendai.
Maybe that's why I was so strangely calm during this one. It was so clearly huge that about the only thing I could be scared about was the building or stone wall collapsing next to/ on me (since I was outside).
I'd like to be done with earthquakes for awhile :/
Sorry, I was in a rush so it came out funny...what I mean is that is even know I don't know you very well, I was worried and I'm glad to hear you aren't hurt.
Even your mom messaged me. I'm sorry everyone was so worried. I was trying to send mail, but the phones were overwhelmed and I was only able to contact one friend in Shiga prefecture and my mother-in-law.

There's pretty much going to be at least one huge aftershock, but I hope it won't cause too much more damage.
