It's not hard to pick up something made of sculpey. You grab it by a solid-looking part and gently pick it up. Not rocket science. I can see how you might make a mistake with one, but over five seems excessive (including unbaked ones, but  my point still stands). My parents hired this damned cleaning lady for God-knows-why  and she keeps breaking ( Read more... )

You have my condolences! The poor creatures! I know what it's like to see hard work crumble at the hands of another. I also fear for your rabbit and others who sit on the shelf, waiting with unparalleled dread until the woman arrives and murders one of their number. Maybe she thinks they're going to attack her? Maybe they do attack? Anyway, you might make your room off limits? Or if that's not possible leave a friendly (I know that's hard after having your work destroyed) note on the shelf saying that you'll take care of it and that you'd prefer it if she'd give the shelf a wide berth. Barring that, hide your precious. While that sucks, at least it'd be safe. By the way, what's your armature made of? I find foil covered re-bar wire very effective. And while your critter might still break, it doesn't fall apart. So it usually ends up being a patchable crack instead of having to scrap the whole project.

Yeah, I'm thinking I'll just have to leave a note.
I use bailing wire and often foil around it. In the places where the sculptures are broken, it's crumbled around the break and the wire and foil is warped and twisted. That's what makes me think of it as blunt trauma caused by a duster handle.

Finally, if you don't mind me asking, who are you? I know that seems like an odd question.

That kind of wound sounds kind of on purpose. Not to accuse the cleaning lady of being malicious, exactly...

I live with Tenrai. I went to IWU with New_fedora, Snipafist, and Tenrai, and several others who went to the happy wedding shindig last weekend. Sadly I couldn't make it. So you almost met me in person. Unless of course you aren't New_fedora's little sister. In which case, haha social gaffe. At any rate, fellow art maker and sculpey-er, happy to make your acquaintance.

Ah, I see. I am, in fact, New_fedora's little sister, so no mistake there.

For what it's worth, I like the cleaning lady. She's kept your house much much much more usable than usual and it doesn't involve Elita constantly screaming at your mom to keep everything clean. Unfortunately, she seems to have a habit of damaging your dysfunctional sculptures. I'd see about moving those shelves up into your room proper as soon as possible. I'm sure your father would be happy to help and I could too.
