Julia and I use them to find people (lawncare, locksmith, exterminators, landscaping .. wow, lot of L people but don't worry they cover the whole alphabet) and we have yet to have it lead us astray.

I can imagine how daunting it is starting all over!

But, NC is gorgeous, I've always thought I could live there.

You remind me of my culture shock moving here from Da West Side in the late 80s to a city where I was (gasp!) an actual minority and record stores hardly carried any music I liked and grocery stores couldn't even SPELL the word 'spices' and the malls closed at 4 PM on Saturdays (Wot the FOO?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!!??)

But we all know in time, you'll find new places where they have your old favorite things.

Between now and then? Here. Have some Cheekies!

You might always be pining for Tex-Mex and real Texas BBQ. I often complain about the icky BBQ up here and lack of decent Mexican (although loads of burrito joints). Of course my idea of decent BBQ is probably what you're getting down there haha. It's a passionate issue! Don't even get me started on cornbread (they put LOADS of sugar in the cornbread, and I think that's vile). Eventually, you might find an acceptable place for one or both. I did find a Mexican restaurant up here that has tamales that are quite edible.

Nice pics in the photo blog! I seem to recall my sis and I getting a scolding for going out in our new spring outfits and making mud pies (with red/orange clay). Our mother was Not Impressed. Very satisfying thick goopy mud pies, and the outfits were itchy and kind of ugly anyway. Your mud looks even nicer, as only NC mud can be.

Huh, that's odd. I wonder if I removed you by mistake when I was cleaning up the list one day ages ago? Anyway, I think we're friends again :) Message me if it didn't work!
