It is a creation of Doctor Eggman's meant to mimic Sonic the Hedgehog's abilities. However, in time, it has gained additional parameters to absorb and learn from others.
At one time, there was an incident that required the combined power of Shadow, Rouge, and I, the Chaotix, and several of Sonic the Hedgehog's friends in order to defeat him.
He currently appears to be working with Doctor Eggman, and one 'Otto Octavius.'
As well as their other allies.

As you reminded me just the other day, Shadow is Data Frozen, and Omega isn't here to assist you with RECOVERING Omega.
Do you, perhaps, insinuate that would like some assistance?
Or was it a not a slip of the tongue and you in fact have a clever plan as to how you're going to bring back such a hulking, massive robot as your dear friend?
