I've taken to sitting at a windowside table on the 2nd floor of the University's main library, studying, reading, doing whatever it is I'm supposed to be doing, and staring whimsically up at the oblique outcroppings below and around Arthur's Seat. Back in NYC for the first time in almost twenty years. More accurately, I am currently sitting in an uncomfortable plastic chair near my departure gate at JFK. I was nearly asleep an hour and a half ago. Then the kittens decided to sneak into my room and start terrorizing each other on the floor and, by way of this terror/play, every object in the room which could possibly be banged, bounced, knocked, or clattered. it is raining here today, as it has been for ages now.

some days the rain brings comfort, some days solace. today i have neither.
