I'm now slightly curious as to whether anyone else has engaged in roleplaying tourism before?

Sort of, but in reverse. I have a tendency to play "roleplaying tour guide" whenever one of my players wanders too near somewhere that I have set bits of a game they played in. (Mostly this happens to lathany of course.)

I found out more than I perhaps wanted to know about fan fiction.

Oh, I know what you mean. What worries me most is that there's some really scary stuff just in the bits they let you see. I mean really - if LotR RPS is for public consumption, what do these people write in private ?!

Made worse by my colleague Simon, who is a Bad Man

He's probably hoping you'll "punish" him. You're not his manager are you ?

Long (hundreds of chapters-long), complicated LotR RPS with implausible combinations of kinks to push their own buttons and butter their own muffins.

Apparently Mr. Bloom is genuinely charmed by it.

I have no particular objection to any subject matter in fiction as long as it is well written - but I can't imagine what makes people want to write most of this stuff!

I'm in a different department to Simon since he left to go to corporate finance. Hmm... Simon wanting me to punish him? In a fan fiction world, perhaps...

Hmmm, I hardly talked to you about fan fiction, so that small cold sweat I just had was needless :)

Was nice to see you for the first time in ooooh, 7 years - I hope it;s not another 7 before I get to see you again!

It was all down to nickeyb and secondhandrick. Not sure if I have your email address, but if so I'll get in touch next time I'm due to be in Oxford and we could meet up to say hi.

I only have the vaguest idea what you're up to at present - LJ details are the sum total of my knowledge.

Had a nice drive around, parked near Wollaton Park and then went and peeked at the various locations.

I'm impressed that you remember that much about it. The campaign must be a good eight or so years old.

I found out more than I perhaps wanted to know about fan fiction.

Yep. I mainly avoid fan fiction for this reason.
