Oh dear god, I don't think I have been this sick in years.

The doctor (yes, I eventually dragged myself to see one, without any prodding from anyone. Be proud of me, dammit, I'm feeling poorly!) says it's one of those short-run viruses and that I pretty much just have to "tough it out", his words. So hello fever and headaches and aching all over ( Read more... )

I'm very proud of you.

Do you need soup? Or paracetemol?

Or potions?

And yes, yes and yes. Please.

It'll have to wait until I'm done with my shift, but I'll definitely bring round supplies as soon as I'm done here.

I hope it's not overly busy.

Whenever I was an ill youngster my Dad would make me drink tea with anise, lemon, honey, and whiskey, which was to be followed by a strong dose of pepper-up. Works quite well provided you don't sick up the whole concoction down the front of your dressing gown!

Anise and honey? It makes me green just thinking about it.

Your fever, chills, and headaches will subside, but you'll be vomiting up your back teeth! Fucking trade-offs, eh?

Jesus. I was just glad that this virus I have doesn't involve me puking my guts up. I don't think I'm going to go out of my way to make that happen!

At least it's short-run, right? I think I'd be forced to poison myself, were I to suffer both a fever and Justin nursing simultaneously.

You're being nursed by Justin as well?

He's not, he's just being a shitstirrer.

Mum has rallied magnificently and I have a vat of chicken soup, some excellent books (they are from me, not Mum) and I'm going to lend you my Gameboy Extreme. Shall I bring them round for you? Is there anything you need?

Justin's here right now, but you're welcome to drop by tomorrow.

My place is far from being the Ritz, I have to say - in fact, it's pretty bloody awful, but if you don't mind that then you're welcome.

Of course.

Ernie, I'm an artist, my entire flat is covered in paint. Your place will probably be less painty, which is a good thing.

This is a pretty rough spot I live in. The block is a dump and my neighbours are junkies or couples always getting the Met called on them for domestic disturbance. Homeless people use the stairwell as a toilet. My flat is fine, it's just everything else that's a problem.

Mind, I think that makes it sound worse than it probably is.
