Look at me, I don't post for weeks, or so it seems to me and here I can't shut up.

Anyway, I'm going to have about 3 weeks at home with E before he starts Kindy. What ideas do all you smart Mama's have for me to keep him busy.

We will be going to the museum, and the zoo a few times, we have memberships to both. I'm thinking a trip to the Butterfly ( Read more... )

Bike riding, picnics, lazy mornings snuggling in bed or on the couch watching TV, baseball games.

I used to LOVE early morning bike rides as a kid. And listening to the baseball game on the radio in the dark.

This is going to sound hokey, but a public bus ride? Nia loved it when we did it recently. The end destination was a place where we ate lunch, then we got back on the bus and went home. She had a blast.

He would love this, I just need to figure out where we could go without too much trouble, we live out in the boonies. ;)

I don't know about F's job situation, but my kids love to ride the bus into the city and have lunch with daddy. We always drive to the park and ride and leave from there...it makes it a 20 or so minute ride versus an hour plus with transfers.

Head to Michael's or Joann's and get some fun summer craft supplies for rainy days.

Plan your library outings for when they have events for him

Sprinkler park, beach, pool

Does your parks and rec have any summer activities/classes you think he would like? Things you could do together?

You're going to love being home with him for that month! We should all be able to do that every summer right before school starts!

Ah the sprinklers at the park, I had completely forgotten how much fun that was as a kid.

I love the bus ride idea, how about light rail?
The mint is close to the Auraria campus stop on Colfax.
Or drive there and see the capitol the same day.

I was looking to see if a bus ride to the Mint would work, it would be getting on 3 different buses, take 2 hours to get there and the mint does not allow anything larger than a wallet that will fit in your pocket into the building, and they have no storage. I think the mint tour will be a drive to downtown thing. We could combine it with a visit to the Art Museum or the Main Library. Hmmm...

A friend of mine here looked into taking her son on a bus; they were going to park at the mall where the bus would pick up & drop off after it's route. Maybe a central place like that might be an option to help make it easier to do.

See if a local gymnastics/yoga/dance/whatever studio offers a free first class? A splash park or pool? Expensive, but the Denver aquarium if it's still there was cool. Also costs more, but has he been to Pikes Peak or the caves at Manitou Springs? Only about a 1.5 hour drive, isn't it? Seems like there is some place to gold mine, but not sure where it was...Any (triple A?) ball leagues in the area? My SIL said the one in the Springs has $2 Tuesdays and there are tons of kids things to go with it. Go bowling or ice-skating or to play miniature golf? Check to see if any of your local theaters are offering summer movie series. Our is $2 and they have a $3 popcorn/candy/drink deal as an extra treat--hey are previously run movies, but still good :) Picnics. Trains.

Our Triple A ball team isn't here yet. Springs would be a fun trip. I think I could convicne F to go with us and maybe we could make a long weekend of it.

thanks
