I want your opinion

I'm visiting my home, Detroit, after a long hiatus. I'm looking for recommendations on the hottest places to eat in the city (not the burbs). Any thoughts?

it's on woodward in merchants row, like across the street from the compuware building. i'm not sure of the name of it, but i'm pretty sure it's just "the breakfast place" or something. i heard they're fairly priced (meals under $10), but it's fancy on the inside.

I agree with SLOW's on michigan ave in corktown. And oslo has a great atmostphere for a sushi bar but the service is soooooo sloooooow. but if you get past that it's really cool. Small Plates across from the opera house is cool.

the russel street deli, small world cafe, niki's in greektown, dutch girl donuts, and xochimilco are among my favorites

Sweet potato fries = not obviously microwaved and probably one of the best things I've ever eaten. I don't drink beer so I have no say in the rope-soaking quote.

Agave - on Woodward Ave & Canfield ... Mexican ... done stylishly ... I love Mexican, but it's always the same ... looking for something new, this place is refreshing - Mexican done with new combinations - fun! And a long list of fun Margueritas. Atmosphere is rather stark, though.
