Bit of a mess

I disappeared because, frankly, things have been really good on the RADA front but shitty on the Man front till now.
RADA acting exercises gone really well, to the point where the teacher John wishes he could have recorded one that my friend Josh did. Been able to at least bear up under the shittiness thanks to Josh outside class too; he's been ( Read more... )

Ugh, is this a theatre man thing, this not believe in self thing? I think what could help is maybe you might know who auditioned him and try to pry from them why he didn't get thru? From what I've been looking at LAMDA seems more keen on taking on any age group and is more on developing people while RADA and other schools may be more into shaping new actors.. Does that make sense and is that observation valid? Is he applying for a degree or masters course?

Zalfian knows the head of East15 I can see if he can pull in a favour if Alex is even interested in that school? One of our friends is there now and he's doing a Masters even though he never really got a degree (did some years but never completed it I think) so perhaps Alex is more suited for a Masters? My friend says a lot of RADA teachers teach there, is that true?

Hope he cheers up soon. Make him food. Food should help. Men love food. Home-cooked food especially. Compile all the good reviews on him and get him to act again and get more good reviews.

It was such a massive blow when RADA and Bristol turned him down att he first round, within 2 days of each other. I wish I could find out why RADA didn't take him but it's a fiendish process, because the panellists are outside actors usually, not staff. He's appleid for the 2yr LAMDA course, because yeah he's a post grad and due to the government putting up costs of post grad courses, he's been v limited to where he applies.
Thank you for the offer but no, ta. a)both Alex and I do have very funny feelings about favours or getting a job via who you know b) East 15 would hate him because he's posh.
Things are lots better now, thanks. But haha no I shouldn't cook. In my insistence to help yesterday I managed to drown his pasta in sauce; luckily he just finds my various disasters funny and/or adorable lol.

WellI no harm in getting an audition and there's no guarantee to get in but I guess that's another blow he wouldn't want to deal with. I'd think that he'll be better than the guy I knew that got in... I don't quite like the guy but I have to give it to him he was so very willing to learn and it showed. Lol yeah actually this guy is quite hippy and so is his girlfriend that goes there so he may not like the people there himself.

Ugh funding is such a pain.

Thing about uni is that it's partially luck. Even with auditions and interviews and what not, if you don't fit into a certain mould they want you to fit in you may not get in.

Haha. But I thought you once said you were good at baking? Well see food did cheer him up, or rather the "making" of the food.
