okay, i've lied here. huge lie, and i'm coming to realize just how huge it is.

season 3 Buffy is not my favorite season. ten years down the road and still i feel the massive peer pressure of "OMG, season 4 sucks", "Riley's an ass", "Buffy and Angel are one twue wuve", "Giles is being neglected." i'm not even friends with those rabid B/A ( Read more... )

Hee. I love your confession. I think it's good to stay outside the realm of the more rabid fan-girls because then you can fully love ALL the seasons without feeling guilty. Or at least that's what I try to do! Hee.

As for Donna on Doctor Who... Hmmmm. I don't know that her voice EVER gets less annoying - she's always a bit screechy. The difference, I think, is that her actions start to become more heartbreaking, girl-power-filled, and overall happy making. For me, the biggest change happens in the episode that I think was titled, "Planet of the Ood" (though my memory for episode names is fuzzy at best so it could be named something entirely different!) She broke my heart in that one and I couldn't help but love her (and her annoying voice) afterward.

Hope your hamstrings feel better soon! OUCH!

Quoted for truth, as they say.

amen! i think it is more me simply flailing around in a massive case of Joss love. well, except for trying to (re)watch Angel right now. ::wince:: jeez, it really is the anti-Joss and still makes me want to stab my eyes out. my friend K is insisting i have to get past the first season. i hope i last that long.

::sigh:: Planet of the Ood didn't do anything for me with her. maybe it didn't help that i knew the whole plot and episode within in 30 seconds of starting the episode (it was predictable even from the title). i just don't like that she is getting in the way of me enjoying Ten who seems so much more at ease/funnier this season. i'll keep slogging through. . . there is promise of Torchwood wonderfulness in the mix for the last two eps, i know (but don't spoil me!).

See, I grew to *love* Donna. PIC is fantastically funny--particularly the dumb show in the middle. Fires of Pompeii is pretty mostly for the scale, though Catherine Tate does give a decent performance in it. Really for me, what I adore about Donna is that she calls the Doctor on his crap in a way that none of the NuWho companions have yet done. Rose--Rose spends most of her tenure being the doe-eyed "shining light to his darkness", and while she does fight him in Dalek just a bit, it doesn't quite fit with the general adoration she has for him. Martha rocked my socks, if only because she was so incredibly capable, but the unrequited crush thing drove me bonkers. Donna becomes his best friend, and I love that.

I admit that I was a bit afraid that I'd be displeased with her after the Runaway Bride, but I got over it by about the fourth episode. ::shrugs:: Some people never adapt, though. You could skip the Donna-centric stuff. I think it's with the Sontaran two-parter that you see her get less screen time, though I'll warn ( ... )

i can see where all these episodes would be enjoyable, i just think i really find the actress herself annoying, so i can't even suck u the massive 180 that the character has done since Runaway Bride. this is going to be a hard season for me to get through ( ... )
