Don't buy a Dell. Buy HP-Compaq. Dell has become crap. Our new laptop is a Compaq Presario v5000, and cost $729. 15 inch screen, and it's pretty decent. Also, try to steer away from Vista if at all possible. Try to find a laptop with XP on it.

Also, most PC laptops have a wireless card installed. If you want to use it wirelessly, you just need a wireless router hooked up to your internet connection at home. You can hook your Mac up with a wired connection and your laptop will be wirelessly connected.

Sounds complicated and scary. Why not Vista? I have heard mixed reviews, but I don't know anything about PC systems... Course I don't know much about Mac's systems either. Does your HP have a burner and do you (or M) know how I could transfer my files from my Mac to it? When you say I could hook my Mac up with a wired connection, does that mean I have to buy something else or is it already hooked up that way? I am so lost, I appreciate the help.

The wireless router will have inputs in the back for you to use to hook up your Mac just like a wired router. I have no concrete evidence either way about Vista, but I do know that Internet Explorer 7, which is also a new Microsoft product, sucks donkey balls. Which makes me extremely wary of Vista. I'm not 100% sure how to xfer files between Mac and PC but I believe you can do it with a memory stick or a CD. Most laptops have at least a CD burner.
