And oddly enough, all this sort of fits in a bit with my headcanon about the historical origin and basis of Poké Balls as well - especially the part about the "specialty" balls that are tailored to a certain type of Pokémon, rather than the standard Poké-Great-Ultra lineup. Definitely something I've been thinking over, in any case. :)
