Death penalty
Not the usual topic of my political rants, but there's some pretty convincing evidence that the state of Georgia may execute an innocent man tomorrow.
My hope is that even pro-death-penalty folks would only want the guilty executed. In this case, it seems there's a lot more than reasonable doubt.

I say a great movie tonight. Bus 174. Amazingly goodI expected a Brazilian crime drama. I got an engrossing documentary that spent a lot of time talking about street kids. Unemployment, day 1
So, today was the first Monday in a year where I woke up with no job. This weekend we had our closing dinner. I have to say, the end of the year is bittersweet. Internship is intense and very tough, and especially for the past 2 months, when I was making up for lost time, I was working insane hours. Plans for unemployment
In about 30 hours, I will be officially unemployed. I think this is the first time in a very long time when I haven't know exactly what's next. Other than finishing the dissertation. I've got a tentative plan but no job lined up yet, and I'm surprisingly ok with that. Maybe panic will hit next week.

Massive good news report:
Baby Jonathan, who was kidnapped last week, has been returned to his parents.
Someone returned him to a priest at St. Francis Church in Guayaquil, and he was quickly reunited with mom, dad, and many siblings.
Thank you all for your prayers/good vibes/etc. -

Freaky news from Ecuador
This sounds like something out of a soap opera, but it's true.
This weekend, Jonathan, 2 weeks old, was kidnapped from his parents' home. His mom is a teacher in an after-school program for kids in poverty and his dad, a former street kid, is currently a teacher at the shelter for street kids where I work.
