Hey Ma, Hey Ma, Look It's Me

So I've now officially ended a stage of my life, and as of right now, I'm not quite sure how it's going to play out. I no longer work for Hollywood Video: I'm sick of putting up with everything that goes on there, and most of all I'm sick of constant insults and belittling from the manager. First of all, I DO NOT think Hollywood Video is a place befitting the talents of the one and only...wait for it....wait...for..it...----> Tom Petty! Secondly, how did you pass the hair length requirement for ROTC, what with your lustrous, flowing golden locks and all.

wink wink. I am just teasing you Tom. Don't worry. Be happy. Everything will turn out fine. You did the right thing. Seriously. On to bigger and better things. You'll see. Really!

I didn't let my hair grow out until after I quit JROTC. Then I didn't cut it for a year.

Thanks. I hope so.

That makes sense. Now that you are changing careers, are you going to cut your hair short. You will probably sell more phones because you will look older and (no offense) more credible. Unfortunately, society DOES prejudge a person's reliability and credibility based on appearance and first impressions. I speak from experience as an HR Manager of many years. It isn't right or fair or even accurate to make assessments based on appearance but, sadly, that is human nature. You can fight this by making a stand but if you are working on commission, that stand may cost you in terms of your bank account. Just food for thought. I think you might actually look good with your hair shorter anyway.

Note to Kellie: I did not spell check this so PLEASE no editorial comments!

No, I'm not. A guy I work with used to have braids, and he does just fine. Besides, cell phones/technology is the domain of younger people, so I think people kind of expect it. And I tend to keep my hair neat and dress well, so it's not that big of a deal. I maintained a strict appearance for JROTC, and I refuse to do it again. I hate the way I look with short hair. I look older with it long.
