In response to the poll, I think the first one sounds better. Why do you ask? Are you at a point where you're considering a name change? If so, then my advice is to avoid "Howe-Nichols" or "Nichols-Howe" at all costs. :)
I was JUST about to post that, I'm glad someone else was thinking that exact same thing :P
When my parents got married, it was all the rage to combine names like that, but here's the thing: nobody, NOBODY would EVER be able to pronounce/spell Herbst-Fulghum
In fact, if you even think about doing that Eddie, I will personally see to having you murdered :)
