In the words of Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy as personified by Mr. Colin Firth: "WHAT?"

I was excited about this movie when I first heard about it because I assumed (stupid, I know) they would be accurate and faithful. I endured the first trailer with only a few hems and haws. I bore with silent disgust a quote by Anne Hathaway that compared the movie ( Read more... )

Yeah... that pisses me off. The whole thing. I'll admit... I'll go see it, beacause it looks like a good movie and I adore Julie Walters, Dame Maggie, James McAvoy, and James Cromwell, but Anne Hathaway's accent doesn't seem right and nor does she!

I grant you, that quote is good. Plus the movie looks beautiful, visually.

I don't know. I'm really kind of upset about this. The tagline was the first clue.

My friend was a dancer on that film, and frankly he said it was the worst film EVER.

I'm going to go see it. Just because I can use it for my doctoral dissertation. As Mags says-- MADE. UP. STORY.

But I don't plan on paying for it. Luckily, I've got a sister who works for a theater and can get me in for free. . .

I hope to do it on Austen paraliterature. If I ever write my thesis and get into a PhD program, that is. :P

I know it's probably not accurate, but I saw it a few months ago and it really was a good movie. James McAvoy made me cry. So go in thinking that it's a fictional person named Jane... who happens to write... about a man named Darcy...

You really will like it when you see it.

I agree with you here. I haven't seen any of the trailers, just the imdb article. But I find it impossible to believe that they could make an accurate and romantic movie on such a short lived relationship. It's one or the other, and I think they've opted for "the other."

But... it's Jane Austen. And James McAvoy. I've got to see it. *weeps*
