After reading Tori's post and thinking about things last night, I feel pretty badly about reading book 7 early. Granted, I didn't know that JKR had made a specific request for fans to wait (just knew about her request not to post spoilers), but I should have done so anyway, purely for the principle of the thing

Oh, don't feel bad about reading the book early! (and thereby making *me* feel guilty for having glimpsed into it...)

See it like this: you know when you see or experience something truly special no one else has seen yet and you can't wait to show it to your friends/can't wait for your friends to discover it for themselves, because you know they'll find it just as beautiful and you'll be able to squee with them and possibly guide them in their experience? It's gonna be like that. Plus, you will still have the opportunity to share the specialness of the moment - you'll still be reading it just as the rest of the world does so too. It may seem a bit familiar, but the real book experience will still be there, it's still gonna be different and new. So don't feel bad. Don't let your enjoyment of the experience fade away. :)

Thanks for posting this. There are a lot of ways to justify having read the book early, but the fact remains that it does go completely against what JKR asked of her fans and we do owe her more than that. The madness that's going around this week is just plain wrong, no matter how hard some people try to disguise it.

I don't like being a finger-wagger but I really felt strongly about this one and I'm so glad you took it to heart. Thank you very much for apologizing, my friend.

Oh, please don't beat yourself up over this! There's a world of difference between savouring something you've long awaited and have access to and being a nasty troll who shoves spoilers into everyone's face via TV, radio, the internet or signs along the highway, all of which happened with book six and I'm sure will happen again. You're the former and NEVER the latter!
