Quick, quick, think! Didn't the elevator take people sometimes? They wrote about that in the journals. Yes! Perfect. "The elevator must have done it! It must be taking us to that broken floor!" After all, it wasn't his fault, it couldn't be-- he had only suggested that the group go, not forced them. Either one of those two hadn't hit the button right, or the elevator was doing this of its own volition.
His words were proved wrong when the door ding!ed open, fog immediately beginning to roll into the elevator along with the musty smell of rot and decay. The temperature almost seemed to drop a few degrees as soon as it became exposed to the landscape, causing goosebumps to rise along the man's arms. He moved a hand to his side, jamming the 'door-close' button, but to no avail ( ... )

The doors were open and a soupy fog rolled in, chilling Moon to the bone even though he was in long sleeves. He took a step back, so that he was pressed against the back of the elevator and waited for the doors to close. Nothing happened.
Fuck. Moon let out an impatient sigh. They were going to have to play along, just like when he was in Pandora. That hadn't been too bad. He and Apple and Bastet had just wandered around for a while until the elevator appeared again. And if fog was all they had to deal with, it wasn't that bad. Right?
Deciding to just get this over with, he pushed past Fugue and exited the elevator. "Fuck, let's just do this. Probably all we have to do is get to the other side and then we can go home."

This place was Wrong in a way that deserved the capital letter. It was an extra sense, some vague instinct that came from nothing but she didn't dare doubt. And the smells-well. She knew those smells. And she didn't like them.
"Then let's get going," she said, her voice hard. "We don't want to be here long."

CRICHTON ST, a sign nearby had said. Something felt familiar about that word, but he didn't think too deeply on it. Besides, as they walked he'd started to hear something clicking on the pavement nearby. Running. Claws. His heart had begun to race.
"Something else is here. What is that?" He had to warn them! Maybe they knew. He hoped they knew. This place was giving him the willies.
