Finished my hat today - not my first hat, but the first hat that is comfy and doesn't try to swallow my head like a python. Couldn't get a good picture of it either on or off my head - this is the best:

cheers. medium stitche numbers but one size up needles. it fits really well hooray! cheers for graph paper. I want to make a black hat with little red stars on it.

I would probably pay about 20 quid for a hat like that in a market or something (I pay more in markets and wee shops than in big shops) I'm a skinflint though - maybe up to 25?

I am good. I am on holiday at last until february! We shall have to get together sometime - arrange something....

Hmm...yeah, I think £20 if I knew it was handmade. £25 if I'd ordered one and it was in colours/patterns that I'd chosen and it was designed for my head.

I paid 25 for my current favourite hat (from the market stall in Cambridge, which is the same as it ever was), but it is lined and has a pom-pom. I'd pay 20 for a hand made pompom-less hat, but that doesn't seem like a great salary for 6 hours work. My mum struggles to charge enough for the things she makes to cover the raw materials (paintings, cakes)

20 squids would be well over the cost of materials, but not cover the work really, but then I like the work so I don't mind too much if i don't get paid for it. I didn't know you're mother painted! Do you have any pictures of her paintings?
