Oscars!

As I'll be watching the Oscars this year I thought it would be more entertaining to have seen as many films as possible that were up for trophies. So I have added four films to Lovefilm [3.10 to yuma, atonement, ratatouille and sicko] made a mental note to watch "away from her" and "surfs up" on filmflex, and hunted down what times oscar nominies ( Read more... )

yes absolutely! I was planning on watching it this weekend - either saturday or sunday before the oscars [seeing how they start at 1am that shouldn't be too hard] do either of these suit you? Friday night might also be good because all the cinema listings change and so I have the feeling the oscar films might have vanished by then. But you know, times are flexy.

Ha! My childhood was also filled with too much Phil Collins as my dad is a major fan. I can still sing-a-long perfectly to every single song. What our parents do to us!

Also, I think lj has gremlins as I was sure I'd posted a comment to this entry about five minutes ago but it ain't showing up. I just said that if you get Ratatouille through then I would love to come watch it with you. Its had nothing but great reviews from everyone I know who has seen it.

Hi Ed,
How/when are you planning on watching all this year's films? I would also like to see as many as possible before Friday, though don't have a lot of cinema money. I currently have no job though, so free daytimes...?

I'm doing the same thing over here!

Have seen Charlie Wilson's War (that's in this years lot, btw, as are the other two you mentioned), No Country for Old Men, and the Diving Bell and the Butterfly. Am off to see Into the Wild and I'm Not There this week, but can't get hold of Michael Clayton and am scared to see There Will Be Blood :(

The diving bell and the butterfly is so beautiful I think the scene between Jean-Paul and his dad is one of the most moving scenes in a film that I have ever seen.

hey - saw 'diving bell' this evening - its wonderful! Its got my favour for direction, adaptation and editing. i like the awards ceremonies for sometimes, not always, making us look closely, they say - you think you were just watching a good film, but did you see this, and this?
