My first thanksgiving

I am glad that you have been blessed with a couple that is willing to mentor you at this time. That is awesome!!! I am glad you are enjoying your holidays. I have really been enjoying the postcards :) they have been ending up on the fridge or in my "German Stuff" box, a collection I have going of everything that is German.

They don't actually celebrate Thanksgiving in Germany. There is a German holiday called "Erntedankfest" which is translated as Thanksgiving, but it is a few months earlier and is more of a church holiday. Anyway, I just decided to call last Sunday my first Thanksgiving because it felt (at least in some ways) like what I think Thanksgiving is supposed to be like, even though the Germans themselves did not consider it anything more than a nice Sunday get together. Anyway, I had an additional two Thanksgiving (one bash for my roommates and friends where I cooked for 11 people!) and another with other Americans where I didn't have to cook, but nevertheless got to eat real pumpkin pie, cornbread and proper turkey. Yay for Thanksgiving!
