Today I earned $44 begging for beer in the departmental hallway. Really, it was great fun. Speaking to faculty members that terrify me, meeting people whose names I should already know . . . the usual. But seriously, I should reconsider my career choice. I can't believe my rotten luck. The one Walter Scott novel I want to read today is the only one of his 40+ novels that isn't available full-text online. Frak.
