I’m going to UVA next year for my PhD in Economics. They have given me a fairly good package: $16,000 stipend, full tuition waiver, and health insurance. Wow, I haven’t updated in a really long time. This past semester went very well. Got 3 As and one B+. The B+ was in elementary analysis, a really hard proof-based math class that had a C/C+ average at the end even with a lot of really smart math people in there, so I feel really good about that grade. Well, I killed my car. It happened when I was driving back to school this past Saturday. I knew my car leaked oil, so before I left I put some oil in the engine. I wish I could better explain economics to a layman. I was just hanging out with some friends yesterday and we started talking about high oil prices. My two friends were blaming it on oil companies gouging us. As a rising economist I disagree and blame it on supply and demand.
