I really like this statement - I find that both extremely strong NDP supporters and extremely strong Conservative supporters are incredibly annoying in that they continuously point out the faults in the the party while refusing to admit the faults with their own party. I agree with the concept of a minority government being more in check than a majority government, though the time and money spent on putting policies through is likely much more than in a majority situation (not saying that's bad, just saying).

The thing about a minority is that it's more likely to represent the wants of majority of the nation instead of just 30 or 40 percent. Although you're totally right, the additional time spent debating things does build up expense.

Your second point is very true as well - it becomes a bit of a cost/benefit scenario ie. is the extra cost incurred worth the extra benefit received.
