Beware the Sacrilege

This past weekend my fiance and I went to the Renaissance Festival in Houston (aka Renfest). It was pretty fun, but really it's kind of odd unless you're really into medieval reinactment. Are you by chance Roman Catholic???? ;) I completely understand where you are coming from and like you, I don't believe I'm going to Hell for not attending weekly service, nor have I attended service for many years now. I feel is more than a social gathering though, from my experience this is a way many people use in order to feel they are being absolved for their own bad deeds. My biggest problem with the church is that the people who attend its service usually go to "learn" to be a better Christian and so they constantly "beg forgiveness", but like most things done now-a-days, there is no magical solution... these people don't really learn their lessons, for they walk right out and do the same thing for a week and return once again to "beg forgiveness". I don't need a priest to forgive me, and I'm quite capable to speaking to God directly and asking him for help to change my ways, if I have done something that biblical society would consider "evil ( ... )

Actually, it's funny that you ask that, because I'm not Catholic, but my fiance is, and he feels the same way about religion. Also, I have to laugh because I have fond memories of my parents reading me those childrens' Bible stories. I remember really enjoying them. ^_^
