I have decided: calculus means nothing.

A couple of weeks ago, Mister Press and I had this conversation about whether math were real outside the human mind or only an abstraction of human thought (he had it with Daisy also). I equivocated-- certain math-- addition, subtraction, exponential growth (populations), that sort of thing-- exists and we use math to describe it ( Read more... )

Wow Bailey, get this. That was filled with so much stuff an average person like me would not understand, and would ordinarily care not, but I read that, AND I UNDERSTAND. I think you should print that out and bring it to Mrs. Zook, seriously. As much as it doesn't make sense, it does. I could not tell any of it back to you, but as I was reading, I understood. Probably not now, but I did. And that makes me happy.

AWESOME

I don't wanna show it to Mrs. Zook, it might hurt her feelings and I love her too much. But it did feel good to get it off my chest.

Just hook that shit up with physics, and it'll all be worth it. What's weird is when you start to see the world as math.

I think I might cry then, Eli.

The physics is slowly coming, but I still am not sure about limits.

Actually, Bailey, if you take the stance that lower-level maths are merely tools to describe what's really happening, then you have to concede the same point on higher-level maths ( ... )

Yes. Yes you are.

I think you can be right if you want to. So can I.

And I DID concede that point, silly. Just in a more negative context.
