What an interesting twist on it! I'll have to read again later after I've had some sleep, but I do like this take on the reveal, too. :)

I think you did a wonderful job! You stayed fairly true to the original, while still doing a nice twist!

(First, my apologies, three of them: for taking so long to comment on this, for taking so long to produce your remix, and for taking so long to announce Round 6 closed. The last two came from the first: I didn’t feel that I was entitled to do anything else till I’d completed my assignment, and that dragged on far longer than I would have dreamed.)

It’s gratifying to see Buffy, post-Season 7, addressing her feelings - and someone else’s - about a person who died in the latter part of Season 2 (and was never seen again, damn it, apart from two instances when it was someone else impersonating her!). It’s also interesting to see how two accomplished writers tackled the same basic task. I wouldn’t disrespect jedibuttercup by saying I liked your version better, but there were certainly parts of yours that I thought were nicely done. (The “damn them/damn me” turnaround was particularly entertaining.) For all that BtVS relied heavily on its history, using it to beautiful effect, they were frequently guilty of ‘gone, doesn’t matter anymore’ about dead ( ... )

Glad you liked it--and thank you for alerting me that your Remix was complete: I've been quite busy the last couple of weeks and had not been by to check.

Jenny deserves more attention than she gets in Buffyverse fanfic, and so does Kennedy--so the combination was an attractive source of material for a Remix, and one I wouldn't mind seeing more of.

Regards,

M. Scott Eiland
