AGE AND TREACHERY (WORLD AT HER FINGERTIPS: JENNY'S REMIX)

Jenny saw the determined expression on her favorite student's face, and was not surprised at all to hear Willow say: “You’re Janna of the Kalderash. I won’t tell Buffy. But you’re going to teach me how to use magic like you do ( Read more... )

First, I’m annoyed with you. I already had ‘Age and Treachery’ marked down as a title I intended to use someday, and now I don’t get to do it.

Second … I’ve read follow-on stories before (usually remixes, but not always), and this is one of the most seamless I’ve ever encountered. Except for minor differences in style - and they truly are really minor - sroni’s original and this one could easily be different parts of the same story. So, kudos there as well.

Finally, a nod for characterization. We get a straight look at Jenny’s genuine caring for Willow, combined with her own form of ruthlessness. It’s also a bit jarring (but not at all OOC) to see Season-3-Willow have done to her what Season-6-Willow will so blithely do to someone she cares for. Did the one contribute to the other, or was it just retroactive karma? No way of knowing … but the same misuse of power we would later see, visibly derived from the determined search for power that formed the beginning of your story ( ... )

I am not at all complaining that we've both remixed each other a lot! I think our styles of writing mesh well together, and we both think of new things to do with something - our styles aren't the same, but we can work off of each other quite well.

I love/hate that Willow is having done to her what she will later do to someone else, and it lays the groundwork for her doing it to Tara. (I had this thought when I first read the story and before Aadler commented, so I get to comment on that aspect, too, and wondering if Willow later does it because it was done to her here.)

And of course Jenny would have safeguards in place and ready if she needed them in case someone figured her out.

Honestly, I just really love this story, and feel like it's a natural continuation of the original, and if you would be interested, I would be more than willing to consider this a two-story series that we co-wrote, and have yours be the official sequel to "World At Her Fingertips".

I would be very interested, and would consider it an honor. :-)

Cheers,
