Welllll... I see the role of facilitator as being more about mechanics, seeing that the group gets the technical knowledge it needs, while the group offers personal experiences.

But I think the facilitators would certainly lose credibility in the eyes of the class were they to state their orientations clearly.

my politically correct self is thinking 'sure, the facilitators are there to aid discussion and not really input too much personally on what the group say'.
on a personal level (and i do realize that this makes me sound like an arsehole), if i was taking the class, i would have a big problem with the fact that the facilitators wouldn't be able to empathize.

sheesh, maybe i'm just not as evolved as i thought i was...

Why do you need to be a clam licker to tell girls to wear a glove? As long as they are well informed. Think about it this way: have you ever doubted Jane Goodall becuase she never actually *experienced* what its like to be a monkey?
